Natvar establishing operations in Costa Rica
Natvar, a division of Tekni-Plex, Inc. continues to grow its global manufacturing footprint with the introduction of operations in Costa Rica starting June, 2013. Natvar will start manufacturing in Costa Rica to meet the growing need for medical extrusion within the country. Natvar is a global supplier of medical tubing for medical device manufacturers who create products for hospitals, physician’s offices, in-home and dental healthcare use.
With four plants located in the United States, Asia and Europe, Natvar provides the majority of the world’s leading medical device companies with unique, precision-crafted tubing for applications that range from chemotherapy to wound care to cardiovascular procedures and more. Costa Rica will play a key role in Natvar’s growth strategy to service its customer needs around the globe.
Bob Donohue, General Manager of Natvar Global Medical Operations, will oversee the manufacturing in Costa Rica and states “One of the pillars in our strategy is to be able to produce within close proximity to our customers. Costa Rica is a growing market for medical device manufacturing, and Natvar wants to be there for our existing and new customers. Opening our new plant there will take cost out of the supply chain, and that message has resonated well with customers.”
In addition, Tekni-Plex recently opened a Global Technology Center located in Holland, Ohio and partners with Natvar engineers to develop cutting edge multilayer medical tube constructions and innovative technologies. Natvar, in conjunction with the GTC, has recently patented new tube constructions designed to bring increased performance at lower cost to our customers.
